Rewards Closed beta
Rewards are incentives that customers can browse, unlock, and use. Examples of rewards include discounts, free items, and giveaways. Unlocking a reward may require spending loyalty points.
The Rewards page of your account allows you to view, create, and edit your rewards. You can define user access to this page through the account settings.
Each reward is connected to one Application and must be unlocked by the customer before it can be used. If the reward requires points to be unlocked, Talon. One deducts them from the connected loyalty program and subledger.

To list your rewards, on the leftmost menu, click Incentives > Rewards.
The page that opens displays the rewards in your account. It contains the following information for each of them:

Reward statuses
A reward can have the following statuses:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Active | Customers can see and unlock the reward. |
| Inactive | The reward does not appear in the rewards catalog and cannot be unlocked by customers. |
Customer reward statuses
A reward can have the following statuses for a given customer:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Unlocked | The customer unlocked the reward. |
| Used | The customer applied the reward in a session. |
Eligibility rule
The eligibility rule lets you manage who can see and unlock a reward, for example, customers who belong to a specific audience. A customer who doesn't meet the eligibility rule can still see the reward, but can't unlock it. To configure this rule, see Add an eligibility rule.
Unlock a reward
When a customer unlocks a reward:
- Talon. One deducts the points required to unlock the reward from the customer's loyalty balance in the selected loyalty program and subledger. This deduction is recorded as a loyalty transaction.
- The reward's status for that customer changes to Unlocked.
Talon. One records this deduction as a Redeem loyalty points effect. To view it, on the Application's Events page, click the number in the Effects column for the relevant event.
A customer can unlock a free reward, with no points required, only one time. This limit prevents a customer from unlocking the same free reward repeatedly.
Reward rule
A reward rule lets you manage what happens when a customer uses the reward. A rule has its own conditions and effects. To configure a reward rule, see Add a reward rule.
A reward rule supports the following effects:
- A discount at the session level, on an individual item, or on an additional cost.
- A free item added to the customer's cart.
- An awarded giveaway code.
- A webhook triggered when a customer uses the reward.
- A custom effect defined by your integration.
When a customer uses an unlocked reward in a session, Talon. One applies the effects configured in the reward rule. The reward's status then changes to Used.
If the reward rule produces no effects, the reward status does not change to Used.
