Create and manage Applications
Create an Application
You can use Applications, for example, to group your campaigns by country, time zone, currency, or even by the teams managing your campaigns.
Should you create multiple Applications?
Depending on your business and promotion requirements, you may choose to create a single Application for all your regions or currencies, or even a combination of both approaches. The following table compares both approaches.
| Approach | Pros | Cons | Risks |
|---|---|---|---|
| One Application per region or currency |
|
| |
| One Application for all your regions or currencies |
|
|
|
Your contract can determine the maximum number of live Applications and of sandbox Applications that you can create. You can find this information in the Campaign Manager, in Account > Usage & Limits.
To create an Application:
-
On the Apps page, click New Application.
NoteIf you have not created any Applications yet, click Create Application.
-
In Name, enter a suitable name for your Application. Use a name that everyone in your team can understand.
-
(Optional) In Description, type some information to help your team understand the purpose of the Application.
-
In Currency, select a currency in the dropdown menu.
How does Talon. One use the currency setting?
Talon. One uses this setting for the following:
- Displaying analytics data related to campaigns.
- Determining how pro rata discounts are rounded.
We recommend you create one Application for each currency you manage promotions in. Analytics data is displayed in the currency selected for the Application, regardless of the actual currency of incoming customer session data. Talon. One does not convert currencies or interpret numeric session values as actual currency values.
-
In Time zone, select a time zone for your Application. Typically, you should use your business' time zone.
How does Talon. One use the time zone setting?
Talon. One uses this setting for the following:
- Campaign schedules.
- The start and expiration dates of your coupon and referral codes.
We do not recommend changing the time zone setting after creating the Application.
-
In Code case sensitivity, use the dropdown menu to choose:
- Case insensitive - Uppercase (recommended) for codes to be stored in uppercase and their case not to be evaluated when customers enter the codes.
- Case insensitive - Lowercase for codes to be stored in lowercase and their case not to be evaluated when customers enter the codes.
- Case sensitive for codes to be stored and evaluated as they are sent.
NoteWe recommend using Case insensitive options because they prevent code redemption errors when end users type the code name in lowercase or uppercase.
The Case sensitive option can be useful to make codes harder to guess.
-
In Application environment, choose the environment where you want to create your Application.
-
Click Create Application.
NoteAfter you create an Application, create an API key, which you need for testing campaigns and sending integration data to Talon.One.
Edit an Application
You can edit an Application to modify its name, description, currency, and Application environment. You can also change the time zone setting, but we do not recommend doing so.
Editing these details affects all the campaigns contained in the Application that is edited.
Change the time zone setting
The primary time zone setting for Talon. One is the Application time zone, which you select when you create an Application. However, in some cases, other time zone settings apply.
| Time zone setting | Used by... |
|---|---|
| Operating system time zone (detected by your browser) |
|
| UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) |
|
To edit the details of an Application:
- On the Apps page, click Settings for the Application you want to edit, or, from the Application's left-side menu, click Settings > Details.
- Edit the required details.
- Click Save Changes.
Delete an Application
When you delete an Application, all its information (including campaigns, coupons, customer sessions and referrals) is erased, and you cannot recover it. However, deleting an Application does not affect your customer profiles.
To delete an Application:
- On the Apps page, select the Application that you want to delete.
- Click Settings > Delete.
- Click Delete Application.
- In Application Name, type the name of the Application.
- Click I understand the consequences, delete this Application.
